      CAS GOINS FOUND DEAD NEAR RAILROAD AT BASTIN
      Cas Goins, around 45 years old, truck mine operator was found dead Wednesday morning near the railroad at Bastin by Russell Young who immediately reported the finding to Sheriff Gilbert Polly, who in turn started an investigation of the crime. It later developed that he had been seen at a certain road house the night before with two young men named Dewey Lucas and Floyd Bates, all drinking and apparently having a riotous time. Lucas who had been in service for sometime and spending several months overseas was to have reported back to Liberal Kansas, this week, is now being held in jail, along with Floyd Bates. According to the stories of Lucas and Bates each one left the other with Goins and went their separate ways neither having anything to do with the crime. Bates has several bruises on his face and scratches which give the impression he has had a struggle with some one, but when questioned he stated that Lucas hit him, which Lucas denied.
