  • Notes 
    • I have never been able to find Sam on the census with Clayborn.
      However there was a Jack Noble born within a year of Samuel's alleged birth date.
      Jack never showed up again on a census that I can find.
      I suspect that Samuel and Jackson are one and the same person.
      So "Jack" may be first, middle or a nickname".
      Jack was one year old in the 1870 census living with Clayborn.
      Samuel's headstone says born 25 July 1869.

      The dates in the extracted census below disagree with the dates on the actual census image that I have posted in the Album section for Sam. I used the dates on that document. Admittedly, some of the dates are blurry and up to interpretation.
      However in 1900 he puts down Mar 1861 but also says he is 31 which would put it at 1869, so I am using 1869
