Notes |
- The relationship between Elijah and Isabella Adams, as parents, and Virgie, Lizzie, and Rebecca, as their children, is highly dubious. In the 1910 census, the three children are listed as "daughters" in the household of which Elijah was head and Isabella the wife. There was also an "aunt" Julia, aged 23, present, but she was obviously too young to be an aunt of either Elijah (who was then 43) or Isabella (who was 50).
In the 1920 census, Julia is present as a niece. Rebecca, Lizzie, and Virgie appear as nieces, and Kemner Adams, aged four, is listed as a nephew. It seems that Julia was probably indeed a niece of the couple who became their ward. And Julia was apparently the mother of the others in the household.
