  • Notes 
    • There is considerable debate about the parentage of this Mary Boone. Some have suggested she was the daughter of Squire (Sr.) and Sarah Morgan Boone. However, the Draper interviews with Nathan Boone indicate that Squire's daughter was born in 1736 and only married once -- to William Christopher Bryan. It would also make her approximately 14 years older than John Couch.

      Three other possibilities have been suggested -- that she is the daughter of Edward "Ned" Boone and his wife Martha Bryan, Squire Boone and his wife Jane VanCleve, or Samuel Boone and his wife Sarah Day. Of these three candidates, Samuel Boone would seem the most promising. Ned Boone was born in 1740; Squire Boone was born in 1744. Either of them would seem too young to have fathered Mary Boone, even if the assumed birth date of 1750 is a few years too early for her birth..
