- Maggie began her teaching career as a high school teacher. She worked for several years as the Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church of Bluefield. After additional studies, she then began teaching English at the college level. She taught at Davis and Elkins College for several years (until approximately 1971) and then returned to Bluefield, where she taught at Southwest Virginia Community College in Richlands, from which she retired.
