- Cecil Gray was a native of Bluefield, WV, and he was educated in the Bluefield schools. He attended Concord College in Athens, WV, and Bluefield College. He was employed at Armour and Company from 1950-52. He began his career in sales with Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Lamp Division, in 1953. He was District Sales Manager, Kansas City, MO, 1970-78; Marketing Manager, Bloomfield, NJ, 1978; Regional Sales Manager, Philadelphia, 1978-83. With the sale of Westinghouse Lamp Division to North American Phillips, he served as Regional Sales Manager, Atlanta, 1983-86.
At his death, he was a member of Roswell Presbyterian Church, Roswell, GA, where his funeral was held on December 18, 1999.
He was a talented pianist who played professionally for a number of years. As a teenager, he hosted and performed for a live weekly radio broadcast of piano music on a Bluefield radio station. He was a member of a popular combo which played club dates throughout West Virginia and Virginia for several years. In his retirement in Atlanta, he accompanied a singing group which performed regularly in senior-citizen centers, retirement homes, and other venues.
